Bridgeport > San Fransisco, 441km

Bridgeport to SFran

We backtracked a few km’s to visit the deserted gold mining town of Bodie.  Once the gold ran out the people left and because they were taxed on what goods they were carrying, they only took what they needed and left the rest.  It now has decades of dust over it

We took the scenic 108 to Sonora – wow what a road.  The first part was sooo twisty, undulating, some of the gradients wouldn’t be legal in NZ.  Then later turned into a great road still very scenic.

Video showing the variety of landscapes today.

Then onto the freeway headed for San Fransisco.  We were happy we weren’t going in the other direction as it was jammed solid for miles and miles with traffic – it’s a long weekend and everyone is trying to get out of town. So we arrived in San Fran at rush hour of a long weekend, lots of hill starts with their steep streets and traffic lights. Was a bit crazy but we got there 🙂
