Iskut to Watson Lake – 367km
Woke up to fog over Dease Lake and the temp was 10. Whether cold or rain it doesn’t really matter to us, as we have the right gear to keep warm and dry – so its just weather.
Glenn arranged for us to call in for a cup of tea with Jim and Sharon who are farmers in Otorohanga in NZ, as well as running a helicopter business in Dease Lake for the last 20+ years. They have 8 helicopters flying all over the area supporting drilling and other industries. Sharon reckons she is ready to retire, but seems to really enjoy organising it all.
Saw another bear with 2 cubs today but couldn’t stop because mothers are very protective of their young, and we are vulnerable on bikes. Also saw another bear on its own, as well as a cute little fox with four young.
The road today was a bit rough in places heading towards Watson Lake with undulations and potholes. Our bikes are made for that sort of road so wasn’t too bad for us.
Continually meeting more and more people on bikes as we get further north, even some more women on their own bikes today.
Sorry, no photos today as they wont download off my camera – don’t know why ??
