Santiago > Mulchen – 573km > Pt Montt – 505km

“On the road again…” and ready for it.

Time to say goodbye to Christian and Fransesca, our super friendly and helpful hostal hosts – Hostal Casa Matte, Ricardo Matt Perez 320, Santiago.

Christian is a Yamaha man and in fact owns an XT like mine but a newer model – there were 4 XT’s on the property yesterday, so my bike took top attention here over Charlie’s!  Christian has 4 bikes in his garage – because he needs that many

…in case you are thinking of asking the question Charlie, the answer is a clear NO.

You might ask what this picture is about…

…well it is GREEN – we are back in green grass, green trees, green crops, even green fences.  Now don’t get me wrong, we have loved the desert!  But, we are kiwis after all and a little partial to some green!!

Was a four laned highway all day with 120 speed limit, so made good miles today.

Mulchen > Puerto Montt – 505km

Pt Montt

Lovely countryside we rode through today, could have been in many places in the world – freshly cut hay and wheat, cattle, sheep, trees.  Again a four laned highway, this is the way south.

Went for a walk around Puerto Monte.

The last time we were in this area we did the bus and lakes tour over the mountains to Bariloche.  It was beautiful so looking forward to tomorrow.

We are starting on the Carraterra Austral tomorrow which is about 1000km of gravel roads and some ferry trips, so this may be our last post for a few days.

Take care on those loose metal roads you guys. You’re entering tiger territory now with not a lot of help from the outside. Looking forward to your next post, really enjoying riding along with both of you.
