A day in Salento
For those that don’t know Charlie that well, he loves his coffee. So we were off nice and early and walked the hour down a gravel road to go on a Coffee Tour to learn about the whole process of coffee
Bamboo grows big here
A coffee plantation
Charlie planting a coffee bean – if he comes back in 60 days it will have grown to the first stage.
We found the whole process so interesting – we even had to go to work and pick some coffee cherries and put them through the process – on a miniature scale of course.
At the end we were shown how to make a perfect cup of coffee and then tried it, with nothing added – very good. Most of their top beans are exported so that means the local Colombian coffee is not as good as they get the second rate beans.
After that we walked a further 1/2 – 3/4hr down a track and across a swingbridge to a small town where we caught a bus back up the hill to Salento
From there we took straight off in a jeep to Cocora Park where we hiked for about 2 1/2hrs. Saw the 60m high wax palms, and some jungle.
The track
Back to town and up the 230 steps to a viewpoint – all that walking on our “day off” 🙂
The streets were again alive with people and music.
Another great day.

Good effort all the hiking – looks amazing and oh so interesting!!
Sore feet by the end of the day, but worth it 🙂

Oh I miss little Cory. I notice all the babies when walking around.
