Guerrero Negro > Loreto, Mexico – 429km
On the road by 8:00, riding through very flat desert, then the mountains and eventually to the coast. The latter half of the day was so scenic.
We were stopped several times again today by army checkpoints, complete with slung rifles. They weren’t too interested in us though, other than where we were from and where we were going 🙂
And guess who we chatted with today.
Charlie Boorman was leading a tour group of 40 bikes, mostly Harleys, down through the Baja. He is a super friendly guy and very easy to chat to. Charlie and Ewan McGregor’s trip Long Way Down inspired us to do the trip we are doing now, so it was a real pleasure to meet him.

The coast is so beautiful.
We have ridden on all sorts of road surfaces today – sand, lumpy big rocks, deep gravel, even a bit of water.
Got into Loreto early, a really lovely little town on the water’s edge. It was the first Jesuit mission on the Baja and has a real feel of history about it.
How great you caught up with Charlie B. I’m sure Charlie R asked lots of questions.
Also good to see Harley’s can go anywhere 🙂
Hi Susie 🙂 The roads are great here, much better than I had expected, well maintained, good cambers etc. And there is a good place to hire Harleys out of Carbo – I thought Paul and Peter might be interested !! xx
