Sullana > Pacasmayo, Peru – 326km > Huarmey, 394km
Since we hit Peru, it has been FLAT and desert, what a difference a day can make.
Houses have changed too
Called in to the guys at Yamaha in Piura to look at my chain. They said it needed cleaning so they removed it, gave it a clean and sprayed on some WD40 and chain lube, then put it back on again – and wouldn’t charge us. “Welcome to Peru” said Eduardo. The friendly team at Yamaha.
Weight and size no limit

Another beautiful day in store – view from our hotel balcony
For most of the day it was just desert, good roads, lots of trucks but easy passing. Was very hazy today too.
Passed a bit of cropping – sugarcane, rice paddies, and some others I didn’t recognise. They do well to grow it in the sand.
As we got further south the scenery became much more dramatic with multi coloured sand dunes, stunning. Would have been even better had it been clear
People live in little huts beside the road in this environment. Must be pretty tough, would not even have water.
Charlie got some great footage of this area and also some unique shots on his headcam today, like the two little kids crouched in the parcel tray at the back of a tuk-tuk, they looked so unhappy – any many others. Unfortunately we hadn’t realised that we had a battery problem, so actually missed getting them – so disappointing!

Interesting never new souch desert
